Patience

So, I have been really thinking long and hard over this post. The most I have spent to date. Maybe this has been an issue that needs some time for major reflection and meditation. Maybe it has been a test of true patience.

I tend to believe I am, on average, a fairly patient person. Now I do have my times where patience runs thin. (I must confess or my loving wife will call me out in public).

But, in all honesty, I think patience is something we’ll deal with to one degree or another at some point in our lives. (some of us more frequently than others) Most times our patience is tested and tried when we are in a hurry and need something done immediately. Is this not normally the scenario? On the flip side, we have all the time on our hands when we are not in a hurry or have some time to kill.

I think it is important as Christians that we practice patience. We need to delegate our time more wisely, organize our schedules better, and think ahead when we plan trips, outings, or socials. We need to excel far above the bar that has been set before us and model our lives in such a manner that patience is in supply and not evaporating.

Colossians 1:11 – being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience

1 Timothy 5:14 – And we urge you, brothers, warn those who are idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone

James 5:7 – Be patient, then, brothers, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop and how patient he is for the autumn and spring rains

Revelation 1:19 – I know your deeds, your love and faith, your service and perseverance, and that you are now doing more than you did at first.

Invitation

invitation definition

in·vi·ta·tion (in′və tās̸hən)

noun

  1. an inviting to come somewhere or do something
  2. the message or note used in inviting
  • enticement or allurement
  • I promise this is not going to be a long one. I at least owe you this from yesterday discussing direction. However, I just want to provide a meditative thought for the afternoon and evening. (even though I have been meditating and allowing it to marinate since lunch yesterday).

Have you ever thought of inviting God to be part of your day? I know it may not be the most “theologically” sound, because He is always involved in the lives of those that are His children and call him Father, but sometimes we need to express the desire to have God be a part of daily lives. Sometimes we overlook our total dependence upon Him and go through the day on our strength. At the end of the day we reflect and look on what we have done .. and not what God has done through and in us.

My challenge to you today; invite God to be part of your day. God desires to be an integral part of your life in the most intimate way. Allow him that desire. I promise you will be amazed!

    In the right Direction

I am about to publicly testify that God is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G-! You heard it. I said it here. In fact, I am DECLARING – MY GOD IS AMAZING! Simply put. None other can touch Him.

I was just thinking of what I could post for the day and brainstorming upon some nifty, catchy title for my blog entry, when I started to think about directions. Taking a “late” look over my morning devotion and scripture – to my SURPRISE – it clearly spoke about DIRECTIONS. There is LOUD signals going off and it has never been more EVIDENT.

The revelation of God is whole and pulls our lives together. The signposts of God are clear and point out the right road. The life-maps of God are right, showing the way to joy. The directions of God are plain and easy on the eyes. God’s reputation is twenty-four-carat gold, with a lifetime guarantee. The decisions of God are accurate down to the nth degree. God’s Word is better than a diamond, better than a diamond set between emeralds. You’ll like it better than strawberries in spring, better than red, ripe strawberries. – There’s more: God’s Word warns us of danger and directs us to hidden treasure. Otherwise how will we find our way? Or know when we play the fool? Clean the slate, God, so we can start the day fresh! Keep me from stupid sins, from thinking I can take over your work; Then I can start this day sun-washed, scrubbed clean of the grime of sin. These are the words in my mouth; these are what I chew on and pray. Accept them when I place them on the morning altar, O God, my Altar-Rock, God, Priest-of-My-Altar. – Psalm 19:8-11 The Message [MSG]
